'Poorly written' is your opinion, to which you are entitled, based on a surface reading of the text. I find that the Word has an incomparable symbolic density, my opinion. Reflection on the depth of those riches illuminates my life in more ways than I could have previously imagined.
It's still just a book that's being worshipped; one which, if it had been written (ok, compiled) today instead of back in the rose-tinted days of yore would most likely end up on the remaindered list in extremely short order. Even Jeffrey Archer, Dan Brown and Stephen King don't have quite as many plot holes, contradictions and zero-dimensional characters as that crock. At least hacks like those mentioned manage to keep a somewhat coherent story going. Imagine what the book would be like if it had been written by good authors. I still wouldn't worship it as a god but at least I wouldn't be embarrassed to read it (by "embarrassed" I mean for those who take the damn thing seriously).
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'
But really I just have an overactive imagination, and I'm really wired to believe things. It's hard to manage all the fleeting fancies I have. luckily I'm also wired to reality enough that my beliefs do not evolve into personal truth. I know where to draw the line between belief and knowledge.
