Absolutely;the explanation will probably be that the marriage was spiritual, like a nun being the bride of Christ. That is a reasonable explanation too,in my opinion.

However, I have never heard this claim before,so will need some supporting evidence from other scholars to come to an informed opinion.

That doesn't answer the question. Why campaign for laws against homosexuality, but not against premarital sex and adultery?

Not to mention blasphemy, coveting, idolatry, and any number of other sins mentioned in scripture but (typically) absent from civil law (excepting the odd unenforced holdover from earlier times).

What's so special about homosexuality?

The verse you've hung your hat on has nothing to say about teh gayz. Scripture is silent. Accept it and move on.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

The OP is an amusing assertion, but highly unlikely to be verified.

Thank you Drich for educating me on the bible's failings here - I always thought that the christians must have had a point(according to their book), but it appears they don't. At all.

What I've summarised from your posts is that according to the bible all sex or sexual thought, gay or straight, outside of marriage, is equally sinful.

If you follow your own logic and for just a moment put aside your own feelings on gay people, then you must see that the people who are against gay marriage and intolerant of gay people in general and who cite the bible as the reason, are applying double standards and singling out this facet of the populace unfairly.

If you say so raging rev... but according to Drich, this guy would also be equally justified and biblically correct holding a sign with 'god hates single mothers', or 'god hates geeks in their mid thirties who are still virgins and masterbate incessantly'

You have singlehandedly undone the Christian intolerant stance on homosexuals in a few short sentences

Thanks for that Thumb up

I would say God hates sin. Or maybe go so far as to say God hates the unrepentant sinner, (which if Homosexuality is justified and it's sin status is taken away, it will doom all homosexuals to be unrepentant sinners) but as far as segregating one sin from another.. Their are only three that Christ put out above the rest. Gossip, Those who are quick to shed blood, and the worst and only unforgivable sin Blaspheme of the Holy Spirit.

Rev. "God hates fags" is an example of someone who is quick to shed blood, and an unrepentant sinner.

Hi Drich

Do you believe that people are born gay, or that they choose to be gay and could reject it if they wanted to ?

The bible tells us people are born unto sin. So whatever that sin may be we must identify it repent of it and seek attonement for it. Homosexuals do not get a special pass. Their sin is like anyother.

My sins are many and too great to number. I think it would be easier to list the ones I am not guilty of. Blaspheme of the holy Spirit, and... that's about it. In one form or another I have violated the rest.
