There is no evidence that any of the bullshit in exodus ever happened. Quite the opposite; the artifacts in the ground tell us that your bible is full of shit.

I've pretty much done what I set out to do here anyway, for now, and we're running into that area in which exploring the connotations of the mythology is interpreted as a personal attack against the individual. I see nothing productive to be gained in such an atmosphere. If I can't be expected to 'judge' the god of this mythology using the mind that it supposedly gave me, then I'm not going to be able to live up to the full potential of that gift. I've set out my thoughts on this matter and the reasoning behind them, however faulty they may appear to someone steeped in the story.

@G-C: I do accept the apology you gave, maybe I read more into your responses than you intended. Whatever your opinions of me, I can actually be a nice guy (I read a book on it once).

I did not say you couldn't say what you want to about God, it's just your choice of words you and others use that can put me off at times.

No hard feelings at this end, I assure you. As for the language thing, I can only apologise but I'm more of a take-me-as-you-find-me kind of guy. As someone who delights in painting with words I consider the richness of the English language to be my palette; I would feel constrained if certain areas were made out of bounds to me. I would point out that, apart from extraordinary situations involving extreme provocation, all my uses of such 'offensive' words are merely illustrative or emphatic, not abusive and certainly not personal. If my occasional lapsing into a more florid vernacular style does cause you to wince, perhaps you could take on board this sage piece of advice I picked up many years ago: "There's no such thing as bad language, only bad people; and they can be bad in any language."

Oh, by the way: this came up earlier and I forgot to address it at the time. You asked where I got the idea that Satan went around making fossils. I understand you didn't say that, and to be honest I'm rather relieved to see you think it ridiculous too. It's something that some theists do seem to think, at least from what they've told me in what appeared to be all seriousness. I simply threw it in as a little flourish.

I will take the language in stride, those that would claim that Satan could even do such a thing gives him to much credit. I do take the Bible for the most part as literal, prophecy is a different thing, I do understand that some of scripture is metaphoric, such as the description of hell, at least for me it is. My doing so brings me under fire so to speak from some Christians, I do not and have not claimed my view of hell is the correct one, I try and understand who God is and sometimes my thoughts can put me at odds with everyone. That's OK with me though I do believe that Christians should use their God given mind.

If the former, then why the latter? From your description of god, he is a creature with no need for free will; so why do you attribute it to him?

It would be considered blasphemy for all cultures back then to have slaves even touch something as sacred as a tomb. The pyramids were built by Egyptian workers, not slaves.

The exodus never happened.
