I'm married to a believer. I was one while we were dating and through our marriage as well. She was never devout though. I think that is the key here. It depends on how devout one is. I think a hardcore theist is going to be tough to date or maintain a healthy relationship with. My wife believes in evolution just to give you an example. I love her

Wow, everyone has really given you some good advice. I know I'm late but as a theist I think it may be difficult to have a serious relationship because that person may expect your views to change one day, so it could lead to some hard times later. My husband wasnt a believer when we married and I found it very hard to maintain the relationship, but it wasn't impossible, so you two should talk about it sometime and get a feel for what religion means to each of you.

Thanks guys. I dont expect him to change because I dont expect myself to change for him either. I will see how it goes. Things are alright but when he start going off on Jesus or God and his church talk I want to go run and smash my head into the wall. It might work if neither of us talk about that subject but I doubt that is possible.

You are right. I'm planning to do that. Be more myself and see how much he can take it. For some reason religious people feel like others automatically owe them some sort of respect because it is a religion and they have some god-given right to be in peoples face about it. I feel like my love for science and astronomy is too much to be ignored and have him call it garbage. Kind of want my cheesy nerdy science star gazing date you know? Kind of want to share my thoughts on the universe with my partner and can talk about it. I find thrilling to feel so small and insignificant

You know, being infatuated with someone is so different from being in a relationship with someone. I've crushed on people that I would never even date. The brain and hormones are scumbags like that..

My fiance is theistic amd there are no belief clashes but it rather gives you a greater understanding of the motivations toward religious belief.
