RE: Question for "Hard Atheists" - Do You Oppose Religion In General?

Quote:I always thought that a Hard Atheist is someone who says "There is DEFINITELY without a shadow of a doubt no supernatural god(s)", while a soft atheist is one who says "It is incredibly improbable that god(s) exists".
Yes and no.
Hard: 'there is no god/ I believe there is no god" Positive claims, attracting the burden of proof.
Soft /weak " I do not believe in gods". Most common reason 'lack of credible evidence' Opinions on how likely the existence of god vary, and are not implied by soft atheism. Soft atheism makes no claims so has no burden of proof.

Logic and reason hates religion.
Logic and reason hates ignorance and blindness. You have many religious folk and many atheists who fall victim to such weakness.

Without religion, there will be people who are good and will do good things, and people who are evil and will do evil things. But to make good people joyfully do copious amounts of evil things, that is religion.
So yes, until American learn to put the blame on christianity, the particular favor of religion which is its own original sin, it will indeed continue to slip.

Logic and reason hates ignorance. Religion is pure ignorance, although ignorance does not require religion.

Then I guess Communism is a religion then.
American atheists are twenty years behind the rest of the world it seems.

I agree, one is too many. However, irrationality is part of the human condition.
That is why I loathe organised religions rather than their dupes.

I'm an atheist, but I'm also a secular humanist. Which means I think it is best that religion has no authority in any public setting, or military. That it should remain in church or at home. It is after all, a personal belief, nothing more.

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.
Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.
You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.

Hard atheism ≠ Anti-theism
What's hard atheism by your definition anyhow?
The person claiming that he's 100% sure that there is no God/gods?

You're thinking of Stalinism, which as a cult of personality was indistinguishable from a religion.

Not reading the thread, but I do consider myself an anti-theist. I despise religion.
