Actually, they have.
Really? I didn't know that,when did that happen? I hadn't heard.
Cumulatively over time. The xtard tradition makes a number of specific positive claims that they have failed to substantiate, and also which have been soundly debunked by evidence. In short: the world is not flat. The sun and stars do not revolve around our planet, and we are not at the center of the universe, just for starters.

Strawman fallacy;those clams are about the physical world, they are not religious principles. They have nothing to do with the claims of the Christian religion laid out in the Nicene Creed. None of those beliefs have yet been disproved.
I am not defending Christianity, merely attacking your poor logic.
Quote:International Consultation on English Texts translation
as printed in:
The Lutheran Book of Worship
The Book of Common Prayer (Episcopal) English Language Liturgical Commission translation
We believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
of one Being with the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven:
by the power of the Holy Spirit
he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary,
and was made man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son.
With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified.
He has spoken through the Prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come. Amen.

This is not appropriate for this thread.
Don't prey on the weakened.
That being said, I think you should skim over this Wiki page (link). It should redirect you right to angst, but skim over the whole article, neh? :3 Hope it helps.

I'm sorry but this is preaching. You are making this as a statement of fact with no evidence whatsoever to back up your claim.
These are exactly the sort of words one would expect to hear from a priest, preaching to his flock.

I've been here 3 days. Already I know what kind of forum dweller GC is. I am not here to hear the same unproven meaningless claims that school teachers try to teach 7 and 8 year olds. I can now think for myself and as I know how to think i have concluded there is no afterlife and will live my life accordingly until that view is disproven.
To the rest of you. This is why I joined this forum. Great people discussing meaningfull issues without preaching or judging. Thank you all.

I think this is pretty normal for anybody contemplating their own mortality. It can be very hard to deal with the thought of just ending - for ever. But then, can you imagine living for ever? I wrestled with the death question for a long while, but in the end was comforted that it is the one truth that nobody avoids. We're all on an equal footing.

Yeah but the thing is....they won't really Trust me the joke is on those deluded fuckers, not us.

You'll get over it in the end, I did.

You can't have a good honest, heart on the line thread can you, without these cunts shitting all over it. Fuck off, cunts.
You are currently experiencing a lucky and very brief window of awareness, sandwiched in between two periods of timeless and utter nothingness. So why not make the most of it, and stop wasting your life away trying to convince other people that there is something else? The reality is obvious.

Have you ever had a dreamless sleep? Your eyes shut, you drift off and then... nothing. But it isn't frightening or disconcerting, its soothing. Your muscles relax, you feel the last of your thoughts disappear in a haze of calm, you slip deep into a void where the thought processes that make you you simply stop and for a short while you are free. Imagine never waking up from that, imagine that the process by which you spring back to life and go on with your day just didn't happen.
Would that be so terrible?

Yes.
I like living. Sorry, but I do.
I liken dying to being unconscious, say under anaesthetic - you can be under for hours (and I suppose days, weeks, years) - but it's as simple as you drift off, then instantly come around - nothing has happened in the timeframe...but at least you wake up to contemplate it.

Living is fine and I'd rather it didn't end but I'm just asking if death is so terrible. We didn't exist countless billions of years before we did yet we bare no trauma from it.
Our lives are brief interludes in a timeless void, when that interlude is over should we really be fearful to return?
