Yeah, that's religion interfering with education and must be stopped. The action, the direct interference is what must be challenged, not the beliefs behind it.
Religion interferes in education more than anything else because they're already losing numbers and are quite worried of dropping any further. After all, religion makes a lot of money out of followers. Also the more you have, the greater the influence you have. It's all about money and power. Like all corrupt minds.
