So, how are your conservative friends taking it?

I hope so. The right wing has moved so deep into alternate reality and into Crazytown that it scares me. I don't want to see another civil war.

Lucky you. I live in Texas, so if another civil war does go down, I'm pretty confident that the police and military here won't be on my side of that war.

You really think that? With a the exception of a few bad apples I expect those with the job of exercising force in our names will do so. I never understand talk of uprisings. (Sure hope I'm right.)

Then you can come stay here in DC with me :-) I'm fairly confident that DC will be well protected in such an event... or perhaps the epicenter... Gah... must not give in to paranoid anxiety! Anyway, I'd rather be here than back in Arkansas...

Thanks for the offer, but if it ever comes to that, I have other plans for where I want to go: http://atheistforums.org/thread-15680.html

If any part of the nation isn't going to turn against me, it's there.

Although, I do already have a contact or two in DC and my brother lives in southern VA (Newport News).
I live on facebook. Come see me there. http://www.facebook.com/tara.rizzatto

Too bad there's no comment section:

"Dear losers,
We won. You lost. Get over it and STFU. Now, support our troops and our president or you're a traitor who wants the terrorists to win. Remember, your efforts to speak out against our president only encourages the terrorists. And since you lost the election, your party now needs to compromise with us to create 'bipartisanship', which, given past use of that word, is code for we get everything we want and you can pass some non-binding resolutions against it or something."

His magic underwear beliefs are meaningless to me. He deserved to lose because he was a liar and couldn't even take contingency plans into acount in writing a consession speach. If he is willing to lie and fails to take into account "what ifs", that would make him a dangerous president. Just like WMD Bush.

I live just across the bay from San Francisco in Berkeley. You could come to dinner a bunch and we can put you a up for a couple days if that helps. Eventually I hope to have a guest cottage in the garden but for the time being there is only a guest room. My wife Lia and I find house guests too inhibiting to our natural style of taking all our frustrations out on each other for a longer stay. (We don't either of us take it personally but this is the way we cope.) Plus we tend to parade around in a state of complete undress whenever the weather permits - so most of the time. And Lia works at odd hours, sometimes noisily in the studio. Do come visit though. We can behave ourselves for short bursts.
