Do you deny incestuous couples marriage? Therefore you don't treat them the same.
Quote:Now... since your pathetic attempts to derail the conversation with incest etc have failed what are you going to try now?
I'm not trying to derail the conversation, I said I wouldn't answer a loaded question at the start, why don't you learn how to read and comprehend.

And it is an interesting question, incest has an increased chance of producing deformities and other mutations BUT then so has the coupling of certain unrelated people with genetic illnesses.
So the added question is would I support restricting these peoples rights to mate?
My gut feeling to the second is no but to incest yes.
However I am not convinced that there is a large swathe of people outside of Kansas that are keen to couple with their close relatives, but I am ready to be swayed by any relevant arguments.
I think that the gays have now made their case and I for one support their rights. Zen do you agree or disagree with this?

Dear me but you are a weasel.
You've been caught out lying, now take it on the chin.
As to incestuous relationships, I've not voiced my opinions because it is not relevant to this thread. But since you are soooo insistent on finding out here it is.
Yes, if they are consenting adults acting in an informed manner of their own free will then they should be allowed to marry.
I don't think such relationships are a good thing mainly for genetic reasons.
But adults should be free to fuck up their lives if they so desire.
Happy now weaselboy?
Oh by the way Jesus said nothing against same sex marriage so any objections you have to it is not biblical and based solely on your small minded bigotry and nothing else.
If you're not supposed to ride faster than your guardian angel can fly then mine had better get a bloody SR-71.

You are precious. You have just said exactly the same thing, more or less, as downbeatplumb. Yet both of you claim that you treat "homosexual" and "heterosexual" relationships the same. Unless I've misunderstood you.
Yet you both give the same basic opposition to incest, that's so precious.

I guess you forgot that the homosexual incestuous couple can't make deformed kids, right? But oh you treat them the same.
I think I've just caught you out lying. Typical atheist bigot!

Actually, Jesus said nothing about homosexual relationships at all, Zen. Do you really think you can teach me my Bible? Well do try then ...

Did you and I read the same post? Badger said they should be allowed to marry, in pretty plain English. Sure he had reservations about incestuous relationships in terms of possible genetic harm, but disliking certain aspects of something isn't the same thing as disapproving of it all on the whole, nor does it hint at some form of secret disapproval of their marriages.
See, this is the thing that few theists seem to understand, and it contributes so much to the fact the existence of the debate about gay marriage: you can disapprove of something, and still tolerate its existence. When a theist makes a religious argument against homosexuality, it just shows they've conflated their own personal opinions with how the world should be. Just... take a step back and recognize that personal feelings on the matter need not affect one's rational view of the world.

You're getting closer. I tolerate a lot of things I don't like, but I'm still allowed to have political opinions you know...

But we see what he said two different ways. See I brought up incest, fair, and I did it separately to homosexuality. In fact I made it very clear I was talking about a singular subject. Zen then brought up bestiality and paedophilia alongside it ... but nah I guess you forgot that part.

Did you happen to read my reply to you on the previous page? Perhaps you didn't, but my point is, I didn't forget any part, and in fact addressed it. Here, take a look:
Quote:Uh, I think he was actually pointing out that the "are you in favor of incestuous marriages too?" is a pretty standard homophobic canard used in the gay marriage argument, just as- yes- beastiality, pedophilia and gang rape are. And like the incest point, none of them have anything to do with the argument at hand.
See? I'm not selectively responding, I'm really not.
