I think they are places where they pump up bourgeois values and sell people a class identity. That is where people learn that it is wrong to say things that are platitudes, the right way to talk is to make everything "lively" and "entertaining".

Everyone knows that a good bourgeois college educated boy needs to be entertained as much as possible. That is what life is about, after all.

Both, often the same group, the middle class / upper middle class punk rocker's become middle class / upper middle class hipsters and art people. They complain about income inequality and collect vinyl and use their free time to pursue personal interests. They complain about how society isn't cool enough. They make fun of people with lower IQ's than them and use their intelligence to analyze the interaction between post modern philosophy and art. They are truly models of what all people should be like.

My dad is a university administrator and my grandfather was a professor. I grew up with liberal bullshit.


A liberal is someone who will insist that they don't know much, and look you in the eye, smile at you and try as hard as they can to persuade you that you should place all your trust in them and try and feign a sort of meek, feminine attitude at the same time.
