Oh yeah? So tell me, gov't hater...why are you spending all this time whining on this forum instead of getting out there and protesting?
I don't support riots and protests, but I can understand why and how it happens.
I don't think the government can be persuaded to 'be good', It will destroy everyone and everything and itself by inevitably running out of money through mathmatically and morally unsustainable programs- Like a cocaine addict. It will collapse in on itself when the power is too much, which is kind of the point we are at now. Governments around the world are getting desperate to scrounge whatever tax dollars they can out of people.

Social change grows exponentially fast. As we have the internet now, it acts as a tool for people to communicate truth and philosophy without fear of the 'gatekeepers'.
Slavery was the norm not too long ago, now it would be considered unfathomable. As is growing acceptance of gays and children more recently. The world is getting better really, really quickly compared to history. So as soon as we treat children well, the government will just naturally erode away like religion.

Koolay, judging from your "teachers are hypocrites" thread, you and I define "violence" very differently. In other words, I'm not bloody scared.

I see. So the world isn't actually going to shit, and gov't will go away on its own...completely negating your earlier statement.

Well, I talk about the things I talk about at my own pleasure. It genuinely fascinates me people react to Socratic reasoning and interviewing. Even if I am on another side of the world.
From what I know, Atheist communities have a strong population of those that changed their mind about religion, questioned their parents, teachers and priests - this requires a lot of courage.
So I think I can have frank conversations about the legitimacy of government, without being surrounded by completely crazy and broken people, so if they can do that- then they can have a conversation with some guy on the internet about principles.

Ah, but in the future, old people will have legions of robots to quell dissent.

Most 50+ people can't use a PC. What are they going to do with a killer robot?

Oh, they know what to do with a killer robot.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."
