The moon is not a light source. Period. What is it you're trying to argue here, GC?

Answer the question if you are smart enough.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

Genesis 1:16 Wrote:God made two great lights--the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars.

And Yahweh made the greater light, presumably the sun, to "govern the day". That always struck me as strange since the sun doesn't just "rule the day". It defines the whole concept.

So, what is the light source of a flashlight?

Batteries
If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!

Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.

Dead wrong.  The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.

Quote:Some people deserve hell.

I say again:  No exceptions.  Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it.  As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.

The light of the sun and the light of the moon have different symbolic connotations in the Judeo/Christian script. The correspondence between sunlight and ruling the day are fractilizations of something more erudite.

The light of the moon, generally speaking, rules the foolish; thoughtless, impulsive and materialistic, ignorant. While the light of the sun rules the prudent; circumspect, stoic and learned. The sun rules the moon just as those who walk by the light of day rule those who walk in the dark or so the analogy goes.

Wrong. You're half way though.

DP said nothing about a flashlight, what's the matter scared to answer my question, same as the other threads, you're full of nothing.

Swing and a miss again! Oh, I'm sorry, I'm supposed to answer your question. Too bad DP answered it already in the same manner I would have. Nothing more need be said.

I take it you're trying to draw an analogy by how flashlights use reflection to augment and direct the light produced by their own internal bulb? And this is a justification for Genesis 1:16?

Two problems:
1. The flashlight has its own light source internal to it. So it is a light source, even though it uses reflection.
2. The verse specifies that the moon doesn't just reflect light but is a light source itself.

Quote:Gen 1:16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.

Wasn't where I was going, and the scripture does not say it's the moons a light source, it is called the lesser light, now I wonder why, could it be that God was saying the moon needed the sun, would explain the word lesser.

That's called special pleading. It's okay to concede points when you're proven wrong. People will think more of you for doing so.
