My state right or wrong, eh?
I'm going to take the mantle of refusing idiotic stereotypes that ALL Texans are bible thumping, racist, Republican conservatives.
If everyone here is going to blame 100% of Texans for Rick Perry being governor then I guess it's also fair to blame 100% of Americans for George W Bush being the president for two consecutive terms.
I thought a group of atheists on a forum were supposed to be rational and intelligent. Am I wrong here?
If the majority of individuals of any area have certain qualites then 100% of people there have that quality? That's the "rational" thought process going on here about Texas?
So since the majority of Americans are religious and don't believe in evolution I guess that means that every American on this forum is also religious and doesn't believe in evolution.

You keep saying that Texas has faults and that people that all the people that live there should answer for them. What you haven't done is show why that is or why anybody should care as much as you.
I've listed things I like about Texas, none of which have anything to do with the things that bother you so much, as far as I can tell (mexican food, sports teams, lakes, southern beach, family, The Atheist Experience....etc).
I would say that there are some things that I don't like about living in Texas, like the 80+ consecutive 3 digit temerature summers...
No casinos in Dallas...
I wish they had Hardee's cheeseburgers....

I just like going there for reasons uneffected by your personal contempt for it. Lastly, what rights or wrongs should I be atoning for exactly? I think your anger is seriously misguided.
If I walk up to a group of Christians bashing Atheism, and anounce that i'm a proud Atheist, I would not be surprised if they began to tell me how awful Atheism is and ridicule me for being proud of it. They may even bring up that Jeffrey Dahmer was an Atheist, or Hitler for that matter. They could tell me how immoral I must be for not sharing their belief. None of that would be at all relevant to my being an Atheist or why I value it. Nor would any of it imply that I'm dumb or immoral.
How exactly, is what some of you are saying, any different than that? Tsk tsk...

Christians believe in the Bible. Atheists have no central source(s) of dogma.
You keep on shutting down criticisms of Texas because it hurts your feelers.
Both of you have argued only the positives while disclaiming the negatives.
Fuck you both.
I know my state cold for the good and the bad, and often have criticism for it.
Both of you on the other hand can't help but stroke your chosen land while trying to suppress anything negative.
Fuck Texas and fuck you.

Fuck Texas and fuck you.
Obviously I have failed to adequately explain my position here.
Let me tell you a story.
I have a friend that I've known since I was in diapers. We grew up together and went through school together from Kindergarten until graduation from High School. We went to the same church together too.
One day, it came to light, that his mother had embezzled around 30,000 bucks over the period of two years or so from her employer. She avoided jail because her husband, who was not aware she was doing it until then, promised it would all be paid back.
My buddy walked up to his mother and said...
"Mom, what you did was wrong. But no one else better say that to me."
I know all the fucked up shit with Texas. And I'll happily discuss it with other Texans. I'll happily discuss it with those not from Texas if they say it in a way such as, "Hey man, I heard about what those certain fuckers down in Texas did... " or "Those fucking Texas Republicans just shit the bed again!"
But when a non-Texan squeals, "TEXAS IS FUCKED UP!" because of what certain individuals in Texas did, IT'S FUCKING ON.
I'm also an American. I know all the fucked up shit with America. Same shit is going down if some non-American starts saying America is fucked up because of what certain politicians, or certain individuals, or certain religious fucktards in America did.
Is that clear enough?

I'm from Kansas, and I'm more than willing to say that Kansas is fucked up because of what so many religious people and politicians do here. No, not every single person is fucked up, but the state in general is fucked up.

You could start a thread on the faults of Moros's state of California, and by extension, Californians. They did give us Ronald Reagan and Freddy Got Fingered, after all.

My IQ isn't low enough to blame an entire state or it's entire population for such things. I didn't even know where Moros was from.
My wife is from San Diego, btw. She likes Texas quite a bit.
