Your Favourite Final Fantasy?

I've just recently started playing Final Fantasy and have started with Final Fantasy 9 because (1) I heard it was one of the easier ones and (2) my boyfriend only has FF7, FF9, FF10 and FF11.
I am enjoying it so far.


Anyway, I was just wondering, which Final Fantasy do you guys think is the best?

My first one was FFX, so it holds a very special place in my heart. But I think FFVII or FFIX could be a great place to start Smile

Don't we have to play them all to pick the best?
I've played FFVII and FFVIII... Started playing FFIX on the PSone emulator, but got too many distractions and never picked it up again.. Sad
As for the newer ones... I only have a PC, so if it requires too much of the hardware to emulate, I don't play it.
The older ones, I -> VI.... they all look the same, I played Knights of Xentar and all of those Final Fantasies look the same as KoX, but without the extra incentive to play and discover everything... Wink

Between VII and VIII.... well, fanboys will tell you VII is the best of the best, because of something unexpected happening at about 75~80% of the game... WOOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWO gamegascmic WOWOWOW... -.-' f'in fanboys!

Me, I started with VIII, and was suckered in by the cutscenes. The beauty of the renders was astonishing, for the time, and was the precursor for the Final Fantasy Movie (not that the stories have anything to do with each other, just the graphics... a bit...).
Given that it was the first, and has beautiful cutscenes, my favorite will always be FFVIII.
I haven't seen anything after FFIX, so while I believe that they've managed to come up with even more astonishing cutscenes, I don't have the information to judge any of those games.

Final Fantasy 6 is not only my favourite in the series, but one of my favourite games of all time.

Final Fantasy 6 is awesome, and the animation kicks ass which is especially cool to see on the SNES.

I really liked FF7 but it's over-hyped. Materia system was pretty boss though.

Did you also have a game which only you liked - which made you feel weird?

In my case it was Splinter Cell and the Metal Gear series.
