This is never actually stated in the bible... only that he had not healed amputees. In which case, it isn't that "God" won't heal amputees, but that it wasn't noted in the bible.

Well the amputee thing is not talking about the bible every time ive heard this argument its aimed at modern day and the con artist... err I mean faith healers...

It's not specifically aimed at the bible. It's certainly aimed at the modern-day con-artist. Wink

I agree. However, I do think that sometimes one side (or the other) is holding some rather shaky ground. Smile

I didn't write the article. Smile However, I would never think anything is more far-fetched than the Noah's Ark story. Scientifically speaking, the whole story is a mess. Incest would have had to have been rampant for those creatures to repopulate the Earth (we all know how that would've turned out), the Ark would have had to have been HUGE, etc., etc.

Shell B... thank you for the link.... Truly some great questions, that over 90% of them I have heard some faith based reply back to on every occasion.

In most of the cases it depends on which faith based belief (i.e.) Which branch of Christianity you are talking with when asking most of those 50...

Thank you, Samson. I have heard various replies to most of these myself.

You're right. I think that the author wrote it based on his experiences with religion growing up and the questions he had that he feels are never properly answered. So, I would assume that the questions and answers he has and has received probably stem from the religion he grew up with. I believe he was brought up a Baptist. *wince*

Lucifer is a later translation. The Hebrew word literally means "light bringer." In Rome, Lucifer was the morning star (Venus) and considered the "light bringer." Hence the translation. In Isaiah's time the "light bringer" would have been been the goddess Ishtar. Don't you guys read my books?

It's semantics, anyway. Most people think of the names Satan and Lucifer as interchangeable. Through practice, they have become such, regardless of their origin.

There is a significant difference between 'answering them' and 'answering them intelligently.' Xtianity (nor any religion, really) does not require intelligent responses. Any silly old shit will do as long as they can feel good about their superstitions.

Oh, and the Lucifer thing is because of a questionable translation from the Latin (Lux=light and ferre= to bring). In the Latin Vulgate version of the NT the best they could come up with was to call the 'Prince of Darkness' the "Bringer of Light." This seems like a bit of a contradiction but I'm sure some xtian will wish it away as they will so many of those other questions.

I agree. Of course, the title is a little literary trick to irk the Christian readers and get them to read it. The author has this article published on another site and it has some INSANE responses from Christians. Once you dig into the article, the author explains that he knows they will answer them, but their answers will be unintelligent. (not his words exactly, my translation of them)

I'll gladly admit that pissing off believers is something I enjoy.

Call it a personality flaw.

I'll do no such thing. Why don't I call it an endearing trait? Big Grin
