At least they didn't shoot the girl and her mother, and then blow up the studio.
I honestly don't see Scientology as worse than any other religion out there.

There is so much of this material out there. It's a disappointment that Scientology (and a lot of other religions and political systems for that matter) can exist alongside modern-day humanity.
At least Scientologists don't bury you up to your neck and kill you with rocks for holding hands with the wrong boy. Sorry, Jacob, but you belong to a cult which systematically covers up the raping of children. Do you know what the Catherine wheel is? The Albigensian crusade? Your cult persecuted Jews for centuries, leading to the systematic purging of 6 million of them in bureaucratically run killing centers. Your attempt to paint others as different from you makes me laugh.
Where do I sign up?
Everything I needed to know about life I learned on Dagobah.
There are religious levels of fuck, and then there are Scientology levels of fuck. I mean, if you honestly believe in a religion based on science fiction...
...you're probably one of those people who caused "Jedi" to be put on the census. RE: The Scientology Religion

Just saw a documentary about it by the BBC. Wow. It truly is fucked. Intimidation, control, division of families, children brought up in it can be issued bills if they choose to leave.
The Koppel interview of the head guy makes the him look like a dirt bag, used car salesman .. with lawyers. RE: The Scientology Religion

I just happen to hold beliefs which overlap with theirs (in places). You might believe in limiting immigration, that don't make you a republican. However my own beliefs don't really make a difference to this though do they? I mean if I told you the LRA are a bunch of wankers, its no less true because I go to church from time to time is it. Generalising all Christianity with the acts of people a few hundred years ago and the most dodgy proponents might be considered a bit... strong. Did you actually watch that documentary? I see little difference between the claims of Islam, Christianity, Mormonism or Scientology.
All bare, unsupported (-able) fantastic, utterly ridiculous assertions. As for the danger -- Scientologists comprise a tiny, tiny fraction of the religious population. At this point in history, Islam is a far greater threat to humanity. Nonetheless, there is no doubt Scientology is an evil, fucked up organization and like many religions before it, will stop at virtually nothing to ensure its survival. Cue destruction of the pagans by Christians, centuries of Jewish persecution at the hands of Christians, the Hindu Kush, the Muslim expansion and both ancient and modern Islamic apostasy and blasphemy edicts. On the flip side, I get no end of grist for my humor mill from Scientology. One of my wireless networks is named is Xenu. Visitors using my wifi scratch their heads if unaware of the Scientology mythology. I've told my kids to get me a black t-shirt with "Xenu" on it in white letters. So far, I remain Xenu-shirtless. Quote: I see little difference between the claims of Islam, Christianity, Mormonism or Scientology. Not denying that. But the church of England tends not to deal with critics by hiring private investigators to dig into people's private lives then send their findings to those people's bosses to try. To get them sacked.

To get them sacked. Maybe not at this point in time; in earlier times not so nice though was it? I don't remember the CoE being so benign back in Henry VIII's time though. Torture, burning at the stake and so on. Maybe in 600 years, Scientology will get all docile and benign too. |
