Pat Robertson finally says what the rest of us have been saying for years.

Unfortunately, Pat ignores when the rest of us tell him to shut up! And so will Ham.

I think it's possible this was a gain. Most often, the only people who take the time to witness these debates are people on the extremes, far from the center. The mainstream appeal of a Bill Nye probably drew in a lot more moderates than these debates usually do, and if we're going to see movement, it's going to come from those moderates, not the extremes.

Right-wing pastor: Pat Robertson committed ‘blasphemy’ by mocking creationism

It's just impossible to root for Robertson but his opponents are actually fucking crazier than he is.

The pastor also took exception with geological science based on the fossil record that suggests dinosaurs went extinct millions of years before humans existed.

“That’s a direction contradiction of the Bible’s teaching that pain, anguish; travail, death and the dysfunctions of nature are a direct result of divine judgment because of man’s sin,” Creech argued. “If there was a primeval prevalence of these things before the fall of man, then that would leave only God himself responsible for such menace and mayhem...."

No, wait. God responsible? Never.

I'm not holding my breath, but it would be wonderful if this snowballed into a genuine cause for schism within Evangelical and Southern Baptist congregations. Pat Robertson is a world class scumbag, but I'll give him mild props for hewing somewhat closer to reality than Ham and his ilk.
