Wait...didn't they writers of those prophesies think THEY were in the "end times"?

Anyway, I always thought this argument was hilarious.

"One day, people will figure out this whole gig is bullshit. Don't listen to those dudes!"

I'm a sinner, I'm a saint

Religious movements, organisations and belief systems are constantly changing, adapting and evolving with the times.

They've like viruses that plague the brain, a cancer unto the mind. As soon as people build up an immunity to their bullshit... *bang* they mutate into something newer, their messages morph into something more appealing, and they've got the general populous subscribing to their dogma all over again.

The cycle repeats. We'll never be completely free of them.

Islam has been in the doldrums for a couple of hundred years. Every country that has tried to base it's laws and politics on Islam is a failure.
That's why the fundies all over the world are rising up. Because they are afraid.
I think these next few years will be the last gasp for religion. This century will be about all the resources running out. When the oil runs out and we suddenly realise it's too late to find ways to share wealth and feed everybody nobody will give a shit about the bible thumper or the imam shouting in the corner. That's my opinion.

too many inaccuracies.
The Brits were always scoffers but then again during the Victorian Era ,missionaries were riding high everywhere else.
Could be what made the Brits look outside their island.
In the usa the fundies were also doing well.
More church going Christians in China than in Europe.

You can't win athie .. and at this point, he got raptured apparently.

The "end-times" wild card is always the easiest to pick, isn't it?
"Every luxury has a deep price. Every indulgence, a cosmic cost. Each fiber of pleasure you experience causes equivalent pain somewhere else. This is the first law of emodynamics [sic]. Joy can be neither created nor destroyed. The balance of happiness is constant.

Fact: Every time you eat a bite of cake, someone gets horsewhipped.

Facter: Every time two people kiss, an orphanage collapses.

Factest: Every time a baby is born, an innocent animal is severely mocked for its physical appearance. Don't be a pleasure hog. Your every smile is a dagger. Happiness is murder.

Vote "yes" on Proposition 1321. Think of some kids. Some kids."

Scripture predicted Christianity would decline, lol. Well duh, it's archaic.

And yes, it will die out someday, sorry.
If the hypothetical idea of an afterlife means more to you than the objectively true reality we all share, then you deserve no respect.

See? The Bible has real prophecy in it! It predicted its own obsolescence! Praise Jesus!

I heard or read somewhere that religion will be around until humans conquer death. It has to do with fear of the unknown. I can't remember whom or where unfortunately.

Amazingly, when his clothes fell to the ground as he was raptured, it somehow managed to type ".." and hit the Post Reply button, too!

It's like all those partially typed posts that are somehow submitted when people mention Candle Jack. I've never underst

No, religion is not almost finished because the human species is generally speaking very credulous. The religious pawn will continue, into the foreseeable future, to smell their own farts and think God is somehow involved in spite of good reasons to the contrary...as they do now.
