Living in My car In a Church Parking Lot...

RE: Living in My car In a Church Parking Lot...
I also would like some money. Instead of searching for work, I'm going to start a fundraiser and solicit funds from strangers on the internet. I haven't figured out my sob story yet but I can assure you it will be compelling. If anyone would like to donate, cash is preferred, please just PM me.

I'm used to living in my car. If I had to live in it for the rest of my life, I guess I could manage. What you are suggesting, at minimum, adds years to finishing school and forfeiting thousands of dollars in earned credits. I already looked into what transfers to Edison, and WPU, and KU, and CNJ, and NJCU. Mostly just my prereq credits. Some of my math credits but not my physics and chemistry credits. It is a reset of half of the classes I've taken on top of waiting a year for residency, on top of years to save up to go back. Your college credits are only good for a few years. I'd have to start all over and I would *STILL* have the debt. You are oversimplifying the problem and trying to make it much worse.
I'm not oversimplifying anything. I'm trying to point out that you do have other options, even if they're not the ones you consider best. Nor am I trying to make your situations worse. You are already making it worse than it has to be. You have options, especially with family only 750 miles away.

I don't know why it bothers you so much that I just want to get my life back on track and get back in school without losing so much hard work that took me over 30 years. If you don't want to donate, that is fine, but you do not have to put me down as a fellow human being. I'm trying to accomplish a goal to finish my education quickly, requalify for financial aid, and complete school with less debt. There are teenagers raising just as much money to get their tuitions paid for. Why does it bother you so much that I'm 34 and just trying to finish what I've started?

More can't/won't excuses with a dose of self pity.

First off, I don't have a problem with you wanting to finish what you started. What I have a problem with is your unreasonable desire to have other people make you debt free so you can get what you want when there are other options. I understand that may not be optimum solutions. they are, however, solutions. And, a better ones than living in your car begging for hand-outs. I've never had to live in my car (because I've never been too prideful to move in with family) but I have had to give up as wasted both time and money that is already gone and the collectors wanted back. It's not the end of the fraking world! But, you can make it the beginning of a new life.

You're using that site to get debt free the easy way. I can empathize with your plight. I can't empathize with your unwillingness to take a setback and work from there to make your own life better. And no, I'm not attacking you. I'm attacking your methods and excuses. Until you realize "this is where I'm at" and start asking yourself "how do I move forward," you never will.

BTW - Your battery may be bad, but from the description it sounds more like your alternator. You can probably get one cheap from the local wrecking yard and I'm sure one of those nice church boys would help you install it. Any competent grease monkey can test it for you for a nominal fee.

So the Nigerian scammers have finally wised up and are using real, live merkins to do their scamming for them.

Bravo, sir.

And in the SoCal market at the time, there were no companies trying to hire store managers, let alone area/district managers. Long story short, I kept my ass looking for work, and in the meantime volunteered at a local food bank, figuring that if I needed to be a future customer, I might as well start my sweat-equity ASAP Smile.

Long story a little longer, it didn't work for me, I got some help from family and friends, couch-surfed for about a year, and in that time saved up enough from recycling / busking guitar on the streets / selling possessions (they were in my ex's garage) etc to get back home to Texas, where I found work pretty quickly and soon was working three jobs and sixty-five hours a week. I'm down to two and fifty-eight now Smile.

The point is, if the OP is truly in her dire straits, she need not suffer alone; there are agencies and organizations available to help.

Ami, if you need help fine-tuning her interview issues, she can PM me. Having conducted thousands of job interviews over the course of sixteen years in business, I've got a pretty good line on the ins and outs of that. I don't have any money to give, but I'm sure I can help you get around the homeless and autism issues that seem to be derailing your efforts.
I did get to make this video last night after borrowing a phone with video capabilities. She sent it to me and I got it this morning and uploaded it. I really, unfortunately do live in my car and I am in this situation. Sad I have not found any way to fix my financial aid other than paying student loans to re-qualify. I just want to go back to school. I have food SNAP benefits. I can live in my car. I just want to go back to school.

School? I love school more than anybody and am passionate about lifelong learning; however, soliciting money to go to school while living out of a car in a church parking lot is evidence that your priorities are fucked up.

You have outstanding student loans. Did you not earn a degree? Giving you money to continue your education sounds like a terrible investment. You are starting to come across as someone who will do and say anything to avoid the responsibility of providing for yourself.

Listen, I'm pretty sure no one here likes to see others in unfortunate situations. We certainly don't revel in your misfortune. However, this site is not a helpline. It's not a soap box for you to plead for charity. There are plenty of other places you can do that, where people may actually help you.

Nobody came here to be solicited for money. Seriously, keep asking for money from people on this website and the door will soon be hitting you on the ass. This is a discussion forum. Not a charity forum. You're in the wrong place.

I gotta give Ami Iverson credit, I've never seen another homeless person be such a prolific writer on the Internet. One would think she has better things to do with her time besides writing short political essays on Disqus.

From disqus I see Ami had this to say about herself:

Ami, to assuage our devil-inspired skepticism and doubt, how about posting a current pic of yourself, holding a placard that says "I'm real! Atheistforums.org - July 7, 2014"?

And what were the circumstances where you met Michio Kaku back in January?

That became a dead link pretty darned fast. She's in control of her FB profile, that's for sure.
