I heard he had brain cancer, and they gave him Wolverine's regeneration powers. It didn't get rid of the cancer, but it halted it. So he's crazy because of the brain cancer. also there's a guy that won't allow him to die because he doesn't want Deadpool hooking up with his daughter.
Of course since many characters have different origin stories, it can be hard to keep track of exact details.

I think omnipotence could be handy. Omniscience would be nice too, but I couldn't have both of them at once with out causing a paradox, so since I have to pick, omnipotence. Which I could use to make myself as close to omniscient as it's possible to be without causing paradox. I might need that for targeting. Then I would start my meddling by making all humans impervious to disease and give small children the property of causing crippling pain to adult genitals on contact.

I've often thought that having the ability to immediately transport someone to the center of Antarctica would come in handy, but wouldn't trust myself with the ability.

There are lots of different origin stories for marvel characters, they update them every now and then, its just how marvel does it. But the comic I read said he had the whole skin cancer thing. Mind you it was an old comic so the weapon X is probably his new origin story.
No, it's the same story as it was when I was 14 & actually reading the comics. Marvel subscribes to the
multiverse theory. If a Marvel hero has multiple origin stories they are generally on a different "Earth". I.e. the movie (Earth 199999) Avengers & the comic book (Earth 616) Avengers aren't in the same "dimension". This is how Marvel kept the
"What If" comics canon. Hell, the Wolverine movie "Earth" & the Avengers movie "Earth" aren't even the same dimension.

Also, I never said Deadpool *didn't* have cancer. Cancer = immortal (as in they don't die when they are supposed to) run-away cells. Deadpool is what happens when cancer meets mutant healing factor.
