In all the self righteous 'morality' all of you have defended has anyone considered the rights and wishes of Mrs. Rice?

Or are we metaphorically hanging a black man/ former hero for all trouble we had in fergason?

Everyone knew what he did before the additional footage came to light, but now some weeks later it escalates? Why? Were you all under the impression ray talked his gf into unconsciousness?

Even so she instagrams:

You people are monsters if you think you have enough information to have and support an opinion on this couple's private lives. Stop looking for broad brush, one philosophy fits all so I don't have to think on my own answers to life's problems.

Start looking for actual context and detail concerning a happenstance and formulate an opinion based on observable facts from the people involved, rather than 15 second window that tells us nothing, except how to loose control over rational thought.

Uhhhh...what posts are you referring to exactly?

More trouble for the NFL.

Quote:Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is being sued over sexual harassment allegations, the Dallas Morning News reported on Tuesday.

According to the News, Jana Weckerly, a former exotic dancer, was forced to perform sexual acts against her will. Deadspin reported last week that Weckerly had hired a lawyer and was considering suing. Weckerly's lawyer told Deadspin that she was traumatized by the incident.

Ray Rice will be playing somewhere. Leonard Little and Donte Stallworth killed people while DUI and still suited up. I understand why the Ravens cut him, but why the new punishment from the NFL? Being knocked unconscious requires a violent blow to the head last time I checked. Did Mr. Goodell have to SEE it to understand the error of his initial judgement? And how does the video make what he did any worse?

Don't start moving the goalposts.

you were the one that replied to me and you said "EVER!"

don't start whining like a lil bitch now, no goalposts were moved at all

you have no idea what went on in their relationship

It still doesn't justify physical violence against a woman.

Anyone who thinks it does is a arsehole.

I think that the people attacking Ray Rice for knocking his wife unconscious (and the NFL/Ravens for their lax approach to what happened) are more concerned with her rights than he was. As for her wishes, I am presuming that among her wishes is to NOT be beaten up by her husband, so at least on that score there is also concern being shown.

I think that they simply didn't think it warranted more than a two-game suspension. At first I thought that perhaps they didn't expect that the video would become public, but I think it's more that they did not expect such an angry public backlash. When they realized that the video made them seem all the more insensitive to the issue, they decided to take stronger action to protect the Ravens brand and the NFL brand.

You are correct that the video simply confirms what was already known: Janay was knocked unconscious, and Rice admitted that it was a result of his striking her. It's hard to imagine any circumstances under which this could be excused. But I think the league's indifference to violence against women was exposed, and now they have to take harsher action.

That said, I think that NFL's action makes a sham of their rules and their authority. They have to act within contractual limits, and it seems to me that Rice has a case that the league has acted well beyond its powers. He may decide to suck it up because he wants back in, and his only hope is to play the contrite villain. But if he wanted to, he could sue and possibly get the league to admit that they had access to the interior video, which would be a disaster for the NFL. As it is, Roger Goodell is facing a growing number of calls for his resignation or firing over the way this was handled.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

Well said. The decisions from the league seem arbitrary to me. Or at least those being made by the commissioner. I can't see any method or guiding principle at work in Mr. Goodell. He drops the hammer on Josh Gordon for testing positive for marijuana in a year long suspension, dishes out a 4 game penalty to Robert Mathis (fertility drug), but then only hands Jim Irsay a 6 game suspension/$500k fine for getting arrested for OWI while in possession of 2 laundry bags of pills and $29k cash.

I think fighting it or suing will all but guarantee his permanent ban. But if Ray Rice does some charity work/donations, keeps his head down and waits, he will be back when this blows over. If Pacman Jones and Michael Vick are still around....

Stop being such a flagrant goddamn hypocrite.

Well fucking put. Methinks 'ol Drippy will ignore this.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great
