This story is a tad old but I just watched a video on what we know of the life of the composer Antonio Vivaldi.



For those who don't know anything about him, he played two roles in his life as priest and musician. From what I know, he kind of reminded me of MASH's father Mulkahy, taking care of orphans. He organized the orphans under his care into an orchestra.

Before I'd seen the video, I knew his life didn't end well. He died in poverty in Vienna. I'd always wondered why. He was a priest. Didn't he have the Church to fall back on?

Nope. They fucked him.

It seems he ran afoul of church politics and really got on the bad side of some powerful figures in Rome. After a life of taking care of orphans and writing great music for the Church, they turned on him over his alleged relationship with the singer, Anna Gio, and pretty much destroyed his career.

She was an adult so I guess that made the affair completely unpalatable to the cardinals in Rome. Who knows if we might have more of his music today but for those sanctimonious kiddy fuckers.

Pope Francis warned during a visit to Albania on Sunday that religion can never be used to justify violence, making apparent reference to the bloodshed wreaked by the Islamic State group in Iraq and Syria.

“Let no one consider themselves to be the ‘armour’ of God while planning and carrying out acts of violence and oppression,” the pontiff said in speech at the presidential palace in Tirana in front of Albania’s leaders.

“May no one use religion as a pretext for actions against human dignity and against fundamental rights,” he said.

Arrested Catholic Archbishop’s computer contained over 100,000 images of children

Vatican detectives analyzing a computer used a by an archbishop arrested earlier this week discovered over 86,000 pornographic photos and 160 sexually explicit video files of children, reports the International Business Times.

According to investigators, another 45,000 pictures had been deleted.

Pope Francis: Vatican begins landmark synod to discuss family life

Pope Francis has opened a gathering of more than 200 senior Roman Catholic bishops by urging them not to impose what he called "intolerable moral burdens" on believers.

The gathering, known as a synod, is discussing the Church's position on controversial issues.

They will be joined by lay Catholics to debate abortion, contraception, homosexuality and divorce.

Yep...200 pervert-protecting bishops are exactly what I'd want deciding questions of "family life."
