I Wanted to Punch Her in the Face

He tells the family members (not me because I had stepped out...fortunately) that "the lord makes miracles happen" and that they should "keep on praying". I understand that he was only trying to comfort them, but it pissed me off when I found out about it later.

It was bad enough when my relatives did that. If it had been a doctor, I'd have been pissed.

When I was 25 my 19 year old brother was driving me in his Fiat spider when a drunk passed out and head-on'd us. I was in and out of consciousness several times and my brother never regained consciousness. A friend of mine let me know he was brain dead. My crazy family though insisted on reporting to me daily what they thought all his little twitches meant. Breaking my arm, brain trauma, and losing my closest sibling were bad enough without having to take care of them and lay there unable to get away from their stupidity.

It is probably rare to be around someone dying without being deluged by everyone's fears and superstition. If I ever go on hospice I think I'll try to get restraining order against most of my family of origin.

You wouldn't happen to know how to perform a high-angle belly-to-back suplex, by any chance?
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

I agree. A key feature in Christianity is violence. Best not to be the same.

I doubt a modern day crusade would amount to anything quite as exciting as they used to be. There are too many educated people anymore. Killing off the smart ones and converting the ignorant just isn't plausible. Fortunately for most religions there are many ways to hate.

you see education always wins always. unless religion gets there shit together and takes out the magic shit it wont be around for the next generation but that probably would be good for everyone.

Sadly I believe religion will be around for quite awhile yet. Many are basically corporations. And they're damn good with the marketing skills.

Edit:
Net Worth of Catholic Church

Funny how money is the root of all evil, but they have a damn lot of it. Maybe they're saving us by keeping us away from it? The Corporation called Catholicism will be here a long time. I'm sure even many countries couldn't compare.

Money isn't evil its just merely the backer of people with bad intents.
Religion the root of that is all bad needs money to be powerful so does anyone. Churches like the catholic church can get away with money laundering and pedophilia and protect its members by paying off people.

Granted. However an entity with that much money, and the ability to constantly generate more, will be around for a very long time.
