Although I am dirt poor and wont be able to go anywhere, maybe others depending on where he goes, NY and DC can protest is bullshit censorship advocacy.

Now again, what atheists are protesting would NOT be against human rights, but the attitude that anyone has the right to be blasphemy free.

New pope is a idiot and no one should listen to him not even his own followers. But yeah atheists should be protesting against this ignorance this new pope is spreading.

Good luck with that. I don't think the church listens to protesters. If anything, they'd protest the protesters protesting, because it "hurts their religious feelings".

I agree that his policies are crap, but I doubt he likes criticism.

I don't see much point in the project. Sign waving is pretty useless. Oppose his ideas in print on the net, which if free, and otherwise let those who love him attend.

Freedom of religion does imply the right to protest religious views publicly. But that isn't an obligation to storm someone else's party.

I would protest his ideas when he talks to the pres or other governmental officials. I don't think his opinions should be more relevant and worthy of notice than mine or yours or the average serial killers.
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god.  If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.

The best protest in play is the continued consolidation and closing of parishes that can't be supported due to dwindling attendance.

Meh. I'll protest by staying home, smoking a joint and jerking off.

UGGGGGG, Of course the church wont listen, it is not aimed at them. It is to motivate those who do value freedom of speech to put him on notice. It is merely to act as a check.

WHAT THE FUCK? No one is talking about disturbing the peace or starting a riot. It is perfectly legal and happens all the time that counter views take up space near the same venues.

Both pro choice rallies I attended at the side of the march there were plenty of religious people shouting at us and condemning us to hell, others praying. No one died.

It isn't that we want to take him seriously, we have to, and not just him or his religion, all religions. Religious people vote and run governments, you don't protest them to outlaw them, you protest them as an ongoing reminder that they are not the center of the universe.

Some here don't watch the news. The Pope basically implied it was ok to use violence when someone picks on your beliefs. He equated religion like a mom.

I am no organizer and do not have the means in any case. This has been posted on several pages and twitter and FB so that those who are part of organizations can take my suggestion as an option.
