Would it make any difference if I took the time to look them up and wrote them for you ? I think most non Christians are aware that Jesus claimed to be God which is the thing that seperates him from all other religious Leaders who just claimed to be a spokesperson for God . Are you aware that Jesus claimed these things about himself ? Ive attended Christian Churches before and these teachings he made are often discussed. He was ultimately killed because he claimed to be God . That's why the Jews hated him and that's why the Romans hated him...because he claimed to be greater in authority than Ceasar and even accepted worship from the commoners .

The problem is that Jesus himself never claimed to be God.

The writers of the Gospels proclaimed him so, but Jesus never made the claim. This is why it does matter that you provide the evidence for the claim that Jesus himself claimed to to be God incarnate.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

RE: New Atheist, depressed, and wondering how to cope with reality.
I know how you're feeling. I have to live with my mormon inlaws. It's scary to think that my family could be kicked out of the house because my husband and I are atheists. It's also scary to think about death at times, but what I take comfort in is that I try to do something good for someone else every day. Just the little things that touch other peoples lives in a positive way. Helping the old woman bad her groceries, using my first aid knowledge to assist in an emergency.

Doing these little things whenever I can really helps me to feel better about my life and the fact that I have helped even in a small way that maybe I'll have done some good in this world that will be remembered.

Don't spend your life worrying about what happens after you die. Spend your life doing good wherever you can! See if you can get your first aid training. See if your community has a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). That's what I do. I am trained so that in case of a disaster situation, I'm trained to assist emergency personnel in medical treatment of victims and search and rescue.

Doing these kinds of good things can make you not only feel better about yourself, but will make a difference in the lives of the people you encounter every day.

If you ever need someone to talk to, feel free to message me!

That is some rough stuff. The deeper you're in, the more painful it is to get out. I think the more common path for most atheists who were Christians is to be out of church for awhile and stop believing once they're 'outside the bubble'. I'm afraid you're doing it the hard way, but props to you for being able to do so. I'm not sure I could have left my Pentecostal upbringing without separating myself from it first (joined the military), although I had strong doubts while I was in it, the pressure to suppress them was great.

If you enjoy the things you're getting from Christianity and are comfortable calling yourself a Christian, there's no law that you have to tell everyone you don't buy all of it. I think millions of people are in your shoes and carry on staying a Christian in most people's eyes without a lot of difficulty. Whether this works for you depends on how important it is to you that the relevant players know what you really think. I don't think I would be comfortable saying that I believe Jesus is Christ, the incarnation of God; but are you really going to get cornered to where that or 'I'm an atheist' are your only options? If you did not consider yourself a Christian atheist, I wouldn't be recommending this, but given that, I think it's a viable option.

My father's side of the family found out years ago that I'm an atheist (someone finally asked). It's been a pain with the redoubling of re-conversion efforts, so I don't think I'll ever tell my mother's side of the family (they're not in touch with each other much).

However you handle it, I wish you the best.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.

It's a good trick, I'll give him that.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

So, now instead of seeing Jesus as the savior and son of God, I see him as a teacher of good morals and reject the existence of a God or Gods in the absence of evidence. But unlike a lot of people on YouTube, I will not claim to know that there is no God, I will only be in the position that I don't see evidence to back up the claim that he is real and so I cannot know for a fact that one exists, so I will reject the claim unless evidence is provided.

I've been fighting the deconversion process ever since I've started watching MrRepzion, TheAmazingAtheist, The Drunken Peasants, Thunderf00t, etc. The youtube atheist channels are the reason I ended up becoming an atheist. I fought hard to try and keep my faith, but in the end, I guess Science always wins no matter how hard you fight. This was the video that dealt the fatal blow:

A Christian / Atheist it would seem , is an oxymoron isn't it ? I don't think you can believe Jesus was just a nice fella who walked some pristine beaches giving good teachings . He certainly claimed to be more than that. So, I think youd have to call him a big fat Liar wouldn't you ?

From the description of yourself, you sound more like an agnostic / skeptic than an atheist .

The thing is that Atheism is a lack of a belief in a God. Christian Atheists lack a belief in God, but they still believe Jesus was a teacher of morals, and teachers are just random people with no divine value. Probably, the reason they still stay believing in Jesus is because they don't realize Jesus is literally a lie.

At the time I wrote this, I didn't realize there was a lack of evidence for Jesus' existence. Then I saw a documentary called How Christianity was Invented. Then after seeing that Jesus was a sugar coated version of a warlord, and the story was warped for the benefit of Caesar

i.e Mark 12:17 And Jesus said to them, "Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's." And they were amazed at Him.

that literally screams "JUST PAY YOUR DAMN TAXES AND STOP CRYING LIKE A BABY!!! PRAY TO YOUR GOD AT HOME WHERE I DON'T HAVE TO LOOK AT YOU!"

Anyway, back on topic. So, I've decided that I wasn't going to be a Christian Atheist anymore because there's no evidence for the existence of Jesus. So, now, as listed in my religious beliefs, I'm a regular Atheist and also an Anti-Theist because I believe religion is harmful.

I prefer to leave the definition of Christian Atheism as my signature to spread awareness of Christian Atheism because an old friend is a Christian Atheist and I feel as though people should know that they're out there.
If pinkie pie isn't real, then how do you explain the existence of ponies, huh? If ponies are real, then that's proof that Pinkie Pie is real. Checkmate, christians!  Heart

Since that's my most common sort of 'needs Mod correction' offense, I suppose there is probably a much better way to break up quotes than copy-and-paste, especially with my impaired powers of remembering stuff.

Mea culpa, or the atheist equivalent thereof.
