New Atheist, depressed, and wondering how to cope with reality.

RE: New Atheist, depressed, and wondering how to cope with reality.
My first experience with atheism, I tried to fight it too and even did research to try and fight it. Of course, this inevitably led to me become more educated, and to become agnostic. I understand a bit how you feel; and I've actually seen all of the youtubers you've mentioned, plus a couple more. Honestly, I think that if I hadn't deconverted, I would just feel idiotic, and always constantly doubting. I think people need to just accept that no one knows everything, and if you're always scared about what will happen next, that means you can't enjoy what's happening now.

To chang a mind is difficult when this mind is important in life. So much questions, but no answers.
There is no answers. In one way, when you loose your religion, you loose every wrong certainty. It is the way to freedom. You must find new answers and a new point of vue about life but keep on having a good look on you.
But what is so difficult for you isn't the fact that you have lost your religion. What is difficult for you is your social isolation that is the result of your choice. To find new friends like you is a good thing.

It s not a shame to be what you are. Parents must love their children eventhough they are not as religious as they are....
The kindness you believed coming from god, must now come from yourself.
If God is the answer to your question, it means that you have asked the wrong question.
A good question always ask how never why.

I write Christian songs, and I don't have a belief in god, I just love Christian songs, that's all.

Kinky, but you've got to love the rebelliousness in that.

So, now instead of seeing Jesus as the savior and son of God, I see him as a teacher of good morals and reject the existence of a God or Gods in the absence of evidence. But unlike a lot of people on YouTube, I will not claim to know that there is no God, I will only be in the position that I don't see evidence to back up the claim that he is real and so I cannot know for a fact that one exists, so I will reject the claim unless evidence is provided.

I've been fighting the deconversion process ever since I've started watching MrRepzion, TheAmazingAtheist, The Drunken Peasants, Thunderf00t, etc. The youtube atheist channels are the reason I ended up becoming an atheist. I fought hard to try and keep my faith, but in the end, I guess Science always wins no matter how hard you fight. This was the video that dealt the fatal blow:

My only problem, is now my dreams of wanting to become a Christian Singer Songwriter are shattered, I now believe that when my family passes, that's it. I'll never see them again, I'm too afraid to come out to my mother as an Atheist because none of my siblings ended up remaining Christian and I was her only success story, and I don't want to break her heart, and I worry my Christian girlfriend will be forced by her parents to break up with me, or she'll break up with me herself.

So, here I am, new atheist, depressed, trapped and now asking, how do you cope with all this? Thanks a bunch.

A Christian / Atheist it would seem , is an oxymoron isn't it ? I don't think you can believe Jesus was just a nice fella who walked some pristine beaches giving good teachings . He certainly claimed to be more than that. So, I think youd have to call him a big fat Liar wouldn't you ?

From the description of yourself, you sound more like an agnostic / skeptic than an atheist .

Care to back that up with some scripture?
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

The scripture where he verbally claimed to be : The Great I Am , the Bread that came down from Heaven , The Son of God , and I and the Father are One.

I guess One can believe Jesus as a good Teacher who was a Traveller from town to town...but, he rubbed people up the wrong way with some of his controversial claims about himself. So, it seems a Person either has to believe in ALL of him, or essentially, he is a Liar on some things. Wouldn't you say so ?

Where is this scripture? Chapter and verse, please?
