How do you know that being raped, murdered and executed wasn't what these people wanted? After all, they're with Jesus - I mean Allah - now. Maybe they just wanted to go home?

The woman accused of raping her son definitely didn't want to go home. The only thing that would stop her from repeatedly yelling "I did not kill! I did not kill!" was the first chop.
They also beat you to the whole slowly poking the squishy parts thing. They pretty much have the market cornered on being horrible, disgusting people.
I can't remember where this verse is from, I think it got removed from canon:

I'd usually recommend a spear or, even better: a javelin, for these purposes, though.
Broomstick's usually all shaft. Need some kind of head to properly pierce a person. This is getting way too elaborate, and I'm getting way too tired. We haven't even gone 'outside the box' yet... and it's just an awful subject to get into. I'm more than willing to entertain that the broomstick is impractically designed such to make it all the more effective in this usage case... but it's just that: realism is a key factor in this.
Occam's razor, and all that. Yawn.

The market on publicly being horrible, etc etc... there's plenty more that goes on behind the scenes everywhere else (and no, the middle east is not excluded from that). It's kind of graphic, but... perhaps it's better than thinking that there is no problem. To have an enemy you can see is a blessing, really...

With almost no exceptions, a standard broomstick is longer than a person's torso. Even if we're not aware that the intestines don't happen to run in a straight line, a person would understand that things would get very... uncomfortable a few inches into the experience.
