Sins

RE: Sins
Sadly most of the theists we get here are hardcore, and will argue black is white rather than concede a single obvious flaw in their beliefs. I'm not saying don't try, but I've been at it for months and seen no sign of genuine consideration of what atheists have to say. I wonder why the hell they are here really.

We do sometimes get a more reasonable one now and again, probably a few who aren't such frequent posters, and we did have Lek but he's taking a break. He is the one I've seen grow the most since I've been here.

Sadly I have most of them on ignore as I could pretty much just type their reply myself.

That probably sounds really arrogant of me, so please make your own mind up!

RE: Sins
When I attended catholic school for three years (thanks mom, for nothing), every Wednesday we had to go to confessional during school hours.

Now tell me, what in the actual fuck would a fourth grader have to do to wind up having to go to confessional every single week? I mean, the reality of it is... my biggest sin as a fourth grader was forgetting to do my homework. I hardly think that that would qualify me to go to confession and be told to do 25 hail mary's and 25 our father's on a rosary. SMDH.

What a load of crap, sorry you had to go through that.

Confessionals were one of the first reasons I started to turn my back on religion. Still being a kid, I was thinking, fuck this. Shall I make up another story about lying so that I get sent on my merry way with some prayer or two? That guy in that fucking booth had no business knowing what I did or didn't do.

Thankfully my parents didn't force me into that kind of shit. I just quit and never looked back.

In my worthless opinion, an unfortunate result of religion interpreting the Fall as an original "sin" or curse, rather than as an original blessing. I like the title of Richard Rohr's book, "Falling Upward," because it correctly states the position of one who is weightless, where "up" or "down" no longer have meaning. We are weightless when we have shed the burden of judging ourselves and others on the basis of dualistic thought.

I remember talking to a Catholic guy in his sixties who told me of his first confession. It was something he had carried as a burden throughout his life. It seems he had waited in line as a second grader for about an hour when he finally got his turn. He went in and was totally terrified and didn't know what to say. The priest told to him to "Get out until you can remember your sins!" So, it really became a role reversal in that, as a result of his humiliating experience in the confessional, the second grader was put into a position of needing to forgive an adult priest...something he hadn't been able to do until that point in his life. That is the way life is. We all are given a cross to bear. They are all different, but we each know what it is because it is the thing that keeps popping up in our thoughts and emotions like some stalking tormentor who finds glee in keeping us from rest.

No crosses for me, thanks.
In every country and every age, the priest had been hostile to Liberty.

I'm sorry, no adult should ever subject a child to that sort of crap. That is not and should never be "the way life is."

I've been through a lot of crap in my time and honestly, this sort of thing to do to a child, to make them carry that mentality their entire lives is just bullshit.

If your infected even alittle then you can not mix with the rest of the population.

Well if that's the case, then the human population would have died out centuries ago because well, if we are all born sinners (according to the buy-bull), then we need to be immediately separated from everyone else. If we are separated from everyone else, we can't reproduce. If we can't reproduce the population will eventually die out.

I'm jus' sayin'.
You've never been quarrintine have you?

Lets say you are 10 and have the chicken pox. If your sibblings never had them then you would be seperated from everyone else. But if your sibblings had them already or have them while you have them, then it is ok for you to comingle.

The same is true with sin. Our seperation is being here on the planet away from the known glory of God. everyone here has or already had 'the chicken pox.'

That you are factually incorrect on all grounds. I don't care what Jeebus says, you are conflating sexual orientation and sexual activity.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sexual_orientation

Quote:Sexual identity and sexual behavior are closely related to sexual orientation, but they are distinguished, with sexual identity referring to an individual's conception of themselves, behavior referring to actual sexual acts performed by the individual, and orientation referring to "fantasies, attachments and longings." Individuals may or may not express their sexual orientation in their behaviors.

And your assertion that anyone can choose their orientation is baseless andu incorrect, as well.

Quote:Efforts to change sexual orientation are unlikely to be successful and involve some risk of harm, contrary to the claims of SOCE practitioners and advocates.

You seem to base this mistake on yhe idea that thought is equivalent to action, which is bullshit. Once again, why don't we see inmates with life sentences for thinking about murder?

And in the context of thought crime, how do you view intrusive thoughts, which are very common? Thoughts that an individual has no control over?

I know, I know. But I can't help it. The SIWOTI is stronger than me.

If your not concerned with what 'jeebus' said then there is nothing more for me to say. Because everything here is how sin relates to one who concerns himself with or wishes to reconsile what 'jeebus' said.

What about my answer confuses you so? The fact that I am not confused about my sexual orientation in any way shape or form?

Your trucker story is irrelavant, since none of us considered you a rent boy as far as I can say. So you're not confused about your sexuality, good for you. So what gives you the authority to say others are?

Not all are. However a great deal are. How do I know, because a great deal of people are no longer afraid to admit it. It is to those in whom I speak.

Children don't need fuck all from your stupid religions, keep it away from them. It's as bad as trying to get them hooked on drugs dressed it up as candy. You're making them think they need something that they don't.

Come at an adult with your horse shit instead and see how far you got. Oh, doesn't work huh?

That would be the sin of lust.

Quote: In the story about the trucker, you stated that you decided at that moment you weren't gay. Didn't you know before which sex you found attractive? How old were you?
That was my final exam. I was tested, and aced the herto exam.

I was probably very early 20's

Maybe my confusion is because you seem to have needed a test to determine your sexuality? I have always known that I liked men and to a lesser extent women. There would be no need for a test to prove my sexuality.

All the incident at the truck stop shows is that you aren't interested in selling sex to a very large man. It doesn't prove anything about your sexuality. Being gay doesn't mean you want to have sex with every available man. If you say you aren't gay, I believe you but you haven't answered the question about when you decided to be heterosexual.
