At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

It is worse than merely anticlimactic.  The verse he quotes does not support his claim at all.  His post is just word salad, as remarked in the first response:

Took me a minute to remember where I'd read this one.  Wouldn't surprise me to learn someone has said it too.  Mary McCarthy, in Memories of a Catholic Girlhood, tells of worrying about her kind protestant grandfather spending too much time with the nuns, because if he learned truth of Catholicism, and did not convert he'd be bound for hell, not just purgatory.  Is it any wonder she eventually became an atheist?

I'm pretty sure I had it right. Endorsement.

If God tells you to do something that would normally be a sin, then it's not a sin. You can kill as many people as you want. Set stuff on fire and take the women as sex slaves.

What is not so clear is how you differentiate between someone who's actually been instructed by God, and someone who is deluded and just thinks they have. Any suggestions?

A better thing to do is search for reasons, than to sit around arguing and complaining.

As I tried unsuccessfully to point out.... "why" is a better question, than "why not". I mean even Einstein said, "science was nothing without imagination." And he basically theorized relativity from his sofa. It took 3 others to actually prove it years later.

Atheists look at everything based on mans understanding of the universe..... which is logic from a tiny dark box! To quote Thomas Edison, "we don't know one millionth of a percent about anything." For atheists there is no accounting for the vastly superior intelligence of a God who created the universe. That baffles me! Doesn't it make more sense to try and understand God together, than to end every serious debate with a rude joke, or insult? My take on the childish shit is, the only one who is really laughing is the really, really smart guy.

The only thing that would put a dent in my armor is for you to provide evidence and reasoned argument to support claims that a god exists.

It is entirely possible that your faith can not be torn down. The reason? You believe faith has more merit than the lack of evidence for your god beliefs.

The thing is, I do not need proof for my position. I am not claiming that gods do no not exist. The only thing I need is for theists to continue to provide unconvincing arguments and evidence.

Einstein? Seriously...

Einstein also said this, "The word god is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honourable, but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish. No interpretation no matter how subtle can change this.".

All we have is our understanding of the universe. 

And if new evidence is found to support the existence of a god in that "one millionth of a percent ", that's when I will start believing it. Not a second before.

No, for atheists, there is drastically insufficient evidence to justify belief in a god. Trying to apply attributes (superior intelligence) to something we disbelieve in, is silly.

I get the idea that there is quite a bit that baffles you. Two examples: basic logic, and what constitutes good evidence.

As soon as you, or any other theists, provides demonstrable evidence and reasoned argument to support the existence of a god, then, and only then will I attempt to "understand God". Why should I try to understand something that is indistinguishable from being nonexistent?

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

Thing is...nobody is trying to tear down your beliefs. The layers upon layers of logical fallacies, inconsistencies, contradictions, lack of morality, and utter irrelevance do a splendid job of that on their own.
