There a lot written about "Astral projection" over the decades.
The last I read about it from psychologists is that it is just an illusion of the mind.
As boru said ... cannot be proven via testing. (after all these decades)

Actually, OBEs can be produced in the lab in a very high percentage of subjects, using light and sound feedback against EEG data.  It just must not be forgotten that "E" means "Experience"-- and that's exactly what it is. SOME claim to have been able to find hidden objects (stuff on top of tall file cabinets that couldn't be seen, etc.), but I think those reports are bogus.

There's a new generation of Lucid Dreamers and OBE people who have dropped the mythology and are just down to the methods, and to sharing their experiences with each other.  You don't have to start burning incense and sewing stars onto your clothes.

From my own experience, I can say that the couple OBEs and lucid dreams I've had were vivid, exciting, deeply personal experiences, and I consider them well worth having. Now that I'm an adult with a full-time job, I don't have the free time to mess around with that stuff, but it's certainly a fond memory.
