Well it's not the only reason. I also like to learn about different religious views or non religious views that people believe in. This way I know how to compare them with my belief as a Muslim

So who revised the Koran to include chapters and verses?  It must have been done after the 16th Century.

If you got it right the first time, why would conflict exist at all? I find it absurd to blame the misinterpreted competing versions of even the same religion on those who claim they are reading it the proper way. If this universal god wants humans to get along, it seems  going out of his way to allow different versions and competing religions the opposite of the universal message he claims.

I think you're a little off on your conclusion.  From the pure Islamic pov muslims are supposed to believe everything in the Bible and Torah.  Of course since they are forbidden to read those books they can't believe what's in them.  So that makes the Islamic clerics liars and deceivers because they don't believe what's in the Koran.  

Religious people tend to get bad attitudes when it's suggested that they should follow one  doctrine.  If they did that then countless people would lose their special status and jobs.  Consequently they all want to retain their own herd where they can be the big wig.  In a fractured system everyone can get to be someone special even if it's just the head of a small gaggle of superstituous twits.  

Even Mohammed complained that his herd of twits had formed over 70 different sects in his lifetime and he was the one who supposedly came up with the BS in the first place.  

There is no celestial God of any kind in this solar system.

Now furthermore the Arabic article Al which means the (Alif)A=1 and(Lam)L=30. Add this 31 to the value of 26 Making it 57 and Al-Hadyd "The iron" which is the chapter name and number. To take it 1 step further 57 is exactly halfway through the Qur'an..scientists have discovered that if u cut the Earth in half, exactly to its inner core, it consists of molten iron.

But it is much more serious than that I guarantee. 2 angels named Munkar and Nakir, with jet black faces and blue eyes and voices like thunder will sit u up in ur grave and ask u 3 simple questions and they want straight answers. Who is your Lord? What is your religion? Who was this man sent to you as prophet? Those who disbelieve will answer incorrectly and will hear a voice say"My servant has lied, prepare for them a coffin from Hellfire." Then u will be shown a window of Paradise. It will be said this is what your Lord has prepared for you, but since you disbelieved you receive this instead. Then an ugly man with a foul stench as your bad deeds will keep you company as you are wrapped in burning shrouds of hellfire. The grave will squeeze your body so tight that your ribs will switch places. The 2 angels will strike you with iron hammers so powerful they will turn a mountain to dust.
