Now, I don't think any of them got it right. But the idea there was someone who created the universe doesn't seem far-fetched to me. (I know it does to Atheists)Have you ever put any time into seriously challenging that reasoning? Are you sure that it's reason? Some of the statements below don't stand out as reasonable (even though they're all completely understandable).
Quote:Evolution is the best current explanation for how organisms on earth came to exist. Which is why I dismiss most religions (that and most of them have something against vaginas). Everything came from a single cell (or at least that's the current scientific explanation) That cell might even have been god. No clue. That beef with vag is puzzling, lol...huh? Course, what if god -did- have something against vaginas? Is that really a reason for you to dismiss those religions...is that reasonable? I can see it as a great reason not to be -part- of them...not to bend the knee, but I don't know whether or not it has anything to do with their accuracy. If you're going to believe in a god...why -not- a misogynist god? After all..many human beings are misogynists.......and that seems, from your comments, to be a compelling line of reasoning to you. How have you decided that misogyny isn't one of those characteristics we picked up from our creator?
Quote:. But anyway, if someone (or something) created the universe, then I would imagine it would have some of the same qualities of humans. It might have the same qualities of several different species, all of them, or even none of them. But I imagine it has some human qualities because humans have this desire to create. To discover, and to explore. And with a universe as vast as this one, I'd imagine that a creator would share some of those same qualities. Not because we're special, but because I think creations tend to take on some characteristics of their creator. Now not always, obviously. But much of the time (which is why I'd be inclined to believe many organisms probably share some quality of a creator if there is one) It's hard to say since if we do have a creator, he or she or it has kept its distance from us.So how does a test fit into that? In general..we're testers of things, so you imagine god to be"The Great Tester of All Things"? We're alot of things...some of them not so generous, why not a rapist god..or an unflinching bot-fly into childrens eyes god? How about a cross dressing god? A flesh eating god? Quadruped god? Compound eyed god? I'm just wondering.....considering all of the vast, vast list of characteristics that we have, or that all other creatures on earth have - why god ends up sounding like a case example of modern western human being when you describe it? Are you sure that you're not describing yourself?
