I don't know where the Bible refers to the Earth as a sphere. There is a passage in Isaiah that has god sitting on the circle of the Earth. But a quick look at the interlinear Bible will show that the word translated as "circle" refers to the firmament or canopy that the ancients believed covered the Earth like a dome.
The god who allows children to be raped out of respect for the free will choice of the rapist, but punishes gay men for engaging in mutually consensual sex couldn't possibly be responsible for an intelligently designed universe.
