Atlas, I'm not saying any one group like ISIS defines Islam, but they certainly represent a plausible interpretation of it that has support in historical tradition - from the violent conquests Mohammad initiated from Mecca, from the Quran's bigoted and often threatening stance towards infidels and apostates, from the explicit instructions in various hadiths, and from the manner in which scholars in Islamic jurisprudence have interpreted all of the above since the medieval period. Again, that's not to say people like you or Maajid haven't existed, but you can't pretend that ISIS isn't fundamentally Islamic and still remain credible.
