However, learning the content of the bible is otherwise no more important than reading any other random work of fiction.
If I want to learn something, I'll pick up a fact based book. I won't pick up a story book and see whether the story might somehow be true and then try and work out weird messages from its supposed events.
I want to learn about Christianity for the same reason why accident investigators may wish to learn about plane crashes, historians may wish to learn about the holocaust, or epidemiologists may wish to learn about the Plague.
