Lol, he's just completely brainwashed. I consider such people a victim. He may well not be this dim and illogical regarding other subjects; people have a way of compartmentalising reality and their pet irrational beliefs.

I don't think there's much to be gained by discussion with him, until such time as he come to you seeking honest discourse.
