That's why there are exactly as many different gods as there are people that believe they exist.
They might identify as one of the top level labels (Christian, Muslim, Hindu, etc), but start asking an individual Christian, Muslim, Hindu, etc, to define their god, and it will inevitably be different than others who identify themselves with the same top level label.
It's no coincidence that invariably, everyone's god will hate all the same people they hate.
You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.
