I think you can't wash your hands of it in the 21st Century. [insert "not all Muslims" disclaimer here] with the presence of Islam in the Western world now (especially Europe) this "religious war" is also happening on our own soil. Hundreds of European-born Muslims went to Syria to join ISIS, and as we've seen they're trying to come back to wreak havoc on our cities. It's not the 15th century anymore, where the Christian religious inquisition remained relatively isolated to Western Europe and Latin America because of the limited ability to travel. People can get around the globe in hours now, taking this "war" wherever they want to take it. While some areas of the world are relatively further away and safer than others, you're never completely safe from this movement.

"Ironically like the nativist far-Right, which despises multiculturalism, but benefits from its ideas of difference to scapegoat the other and to promote its own white identity politics; these postmodernists, leftists, feminists and liberals also use multiculturalism, to side with the oppressor, by demanding respect and tolerance for oppression characterised as 'difference', no matter how intolerable." - Maryam Namazie
