Much ado about nothing. That's the explanation I was repeatedly  asked for, for essentially stating why I thought this guy  behaved like a cowardly bitch and didn't handle the situation like a man. If people somehow determine that I'm making an overarching statement in defining gender roles in general, they're really stretching it, and I suspect they know that. Or they didn't read all of the posts....I made clear that this guy's negative attributes weren't unique to, or even ascribed to most women.

Btw, be a man about it, act like a man and vice versa  are also things people say when suggesting that someone act with a degree of integrity and dignity. It's a thing, you know.

Man up, act like a man, and be a real man are all phrases that disgust me. I get your point. They're phrases that are used and not necessarily even referring to a man when you say them, but the sentiment behind them is stupid.

Okay. You probably shouldn't use those terms, then.
