Not you as a person. You, as a society. Everyone doing a little bit of homework knows about the National Parks, artist, theater and music scene. But what makes headlines is the military and it's actions.
Americans, too, should be judged on individual qualities. Many Americans think America is the Greatest Nation Evah. Many Americans also are aware of the nation's shortcomings. Judging anything -- a country, a faith, a company, a people -- by headlines is going to be necessarily inaccurate, insofar as details will always get glossed-over.
