Catholics vs. Evangelicals?

As we all know, these are the two largest groups of Christianity in the United States ( and maybe the world!)

Can you tell me your experiences of interacting with the two groups of people?

Which do you prefer (as a whole) and what if any differences do you find between them?

Catholics seem more tribal while protestants range between moderate and whacko but each one is a maverick, at least in his own mind.
