WHAT expense? The kids are sitting their exams early - ALL of the kids are sitting their exams early. No one is at a disadvantage, no one is going to suffer by this. Exam season doesn't roll round for several months yet, so everyone knows they'll have a few fewer days for revision.
This isn't pandering - this is a reasonable accommodation of religious belief. No one is being hurt by this.

Agreed, there is a significant Muslim presence in the UK, making such an adjustment is not unreasonable.
Now institutionalized Sharia, that's a different story.
