My gun touting paranoia isn't actually a home invasion thing. I feel quite safe with my doors locked and husky in my room. (The machete is just there for in case but I don't think I will ever need it) My real fear is outside the house. And I agree with you it was a different world before I moved to the city. In the town my mom lives in I leave my truck unlocked and don't ever carry my gun.

Because the UK only allows "reasonable force". That, in most cases, only allows restraining the person or something until the police arrive. Of course, that's not always possible.
You guys are allowed to blow them away or stab them for just breaking into your house. We're not.
Note the "" on reasonable force. The police say you can defend yourself, but you're likely to get charged with assault if you do.
That isn't cool but I'm glad you are protecting yourself with the bat at least.
