As I noted above, how many of the 12 disciples became True Christians ??
Further, looks like Jesus always only had the 12. Seems like even in those pre Skype days He could have done a little better at growing the organization.
Hell, even an obvious fraud like Joe Smith accumulated more and better followers faster than Jesus did, and by orders of magnitude too. Jesus shows up with 'The Real Deal" (unlike old Horny Joe) and only generates tepid interest in a paltry dozen.
What does that say about the Message, and Jesus skill as a salesman ??
Another thought: maybe it's not about the salesman so much as the target audience. Who knows? Maybe 1st Century rubes from Palestine were brighter than 19th Century American rubes.
[Jesus addresses the jeering crowd]: Wait! Don't walk away! I have something else to tell you.
[Voices from the crowd]: Yeah, yeah, God Junior. We heard your spiel.
[Jesus]: But you don't understand. I . . . I have a hat . . . and some stones!
[Crowd]: Get the fuck out of here!
*Mirthful crowd disperses*
