I met my wife online. I also had several disasters before that (about 4). I doubt I would ever have met a partner just wandering around.

I think being up front about the things that really matter to you in a relationship is helpful. It worked for me.

I'm a fan of chatting first for a while before meeting up, although I did tend to find people who lived some distance away.
