The KJV isn't exactly the translation of record for the source material...you realize? It doesn't matter what you take issue with. You asked what the christian position on salvation was. Not what you or some other schmuck think it -should- be. I could hardly begin to imagine the diversity of the latter.
Don't get me wrong, I understand where you're coming from (I think). Magic book says alot of shit, and because of that alone, if no other reason, it takes a certain amount of finesse to line one thing up with another and get what you want out of it.
