You think it's sad that we don't buy into heaven and hell? Places that have zero evidence for their existence?
Do you want to know what I think is truly sad? The fear, guilt and sheer panic that Catholics show on their death beds. My mum is a nurse in a hospice for people who are terminally ill, usually from cancer. And in the whole 30 years she has been a nurse she has said there are no people more scared of death than Catholics. The emphasis and fear-mongering about hell that is instilled in the minds of all Catholics from such a young age amounts to nothing more than brainwashing and abuse in my eyes and makes your particular brand of bullshit a rather evil one.
So which is really more sad? Living a life full of fear and torment about what will possibly be awaiting you after you die? or, living a life free of such burdens and fear, appreciating fully the time we have here on earth?
Also, can you stop claiming Atheism is a world view or anything other than a lack of belief of god? You would find people a lot more tolerable of you if you didn't have such an incorrect view of the simplicity of Atheism. Like someone else said, if Atheism is a world view or ideal then not playing baseball is a sport. All Atheists share is their lack of belief, they could disagree on literally EVERYTHING else. Not a very coherent world view is it?
