They didn't act like a bully or stand up to one, their statement was akin to asking Pence to be nice. Which might be a waste of time; as a Bible-thumper, he's pretty certain that he's already a nice person and the limiting of gay rights and promotion of the Christian religion at the expense of everything else are among the nicest things he can accomplish for all of us sinners.
