Trump orders wall to be built on Mexico border

I don't know if a wall would work or not. Heck I don't even know what kind of wall we're talking about. What I do know is that illegal immigration makes many bad things worse like drug smuggling, human trafficking, the spread of disease, and low grade-level competency in schools. It's corrosive to the rule of law in both the US and Mexico and it is fundamentally unfair to law-abiding immigrants. For years and years and years politicians have either promised to something and didn't or exploited the situation for political gain. Trump isn't just doing something different; he's actually trying to do something. Whether it works or not remains to be seen.

No, he's not doing something. It's a $15 billion dollar metaphor. It won't do anything to solve those problems, it's just an image thing. And people who don't know jack about illegal immigration between the US-Mexico border will think that a physical wall will do something. That's all Trump cares about: image. It looks like he's trying to do something. It's flashier than legislation. Are you aware that illegal immigration from the southern border has been decreasing, without this stupid wall? Are you aware that a lot of illegals are immigrants who arrived legally but stayed after their visas expired? 

The issue is more complex than WALL. But his supporters don't care.
