Having dealt with my elderly mom who was not obese but a little over weight some people really cannot reach back there. It is no fun watching the one you love have problems with things many of us take for granted.
It especially hurts knowing the person you love is extremely independent minded.
Even with issues of parking lots, or the size of a isle in a store or crowed restaurant, unless you deal with mobility issues on a daily basis, most people take for granted what they do.
